Oklahoma Criminal History Search
Everyone can look back on the past and see mistakes they made. However, for some of us, those mistakes are serious, and they can have future repercussions. For example, if you were arrested and fingerprinted, the offense becomes public information that anyone can find when they do an Oklahoma criminal records search. Do you know what's on your report? If you want to find out, this information can help.

What Does an Oklahoma Criminal Record Consist of?

If you are arrested or brought to court over legal matters, it's public information in Oklahoma, and it goes on your record. This can include DUI convictions, probation, sentences, plea bargains, and many other matters. However, not everything may appear on your record, especially if the arrest concerned a simple misdemeanor like intoxicated in public or minor traffic offenses. Yet, if you have a felony conviction, it will be on your report.

Obtaining Your Records in Oklahoma

In the state of Oklahoma, you must contact the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation. They keep the criminal records of everyone in the state. Anyone living in Oklahoma can contact the bureau to obtain their personal criminal history report. They can also get records for others.

Available Oklahoma Criminal Records

You can receive fingerprint-based or name-based search records. If you go to the Criminal History section of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) website, you'll see several options. They have links for obtaining fingerprint search and name search reports. You can also update your criminal history, expunge certain records, and receive help with identity theft protection.
The Bureau website also has a link to the ACHS (Automated Criminal History System). This is setup so businesses can sign up for an account and access the Oklahoma Criminal Records database on a regular basis.

Name-based Reports

Thanks to the Oklahoma Records Act you have the right to view government records. You cannot receive records online, but you can download the official request form at the website. Once you fill out the form, you can bring it to the OSBI location, mail it, or fax it to the State Bureau of Investigation. The fax number is 1-405-879-2503. Their mailing address is:
"Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation
Criminal History Record Information Request
6600 North Harvey Place
Oklahoma City, OK 73116"
The fee for a name-based search is $15.00, and you can pay cash in person. For mail requests, they accept credit cards, money orders, and cashier's checks. Fax requests must be paid by credit card.

Fingerprint-Based Records

You may use the same form for both name and fingerprint-based reports. You must submit fingerprint cards, and if you need services, you can contact your local police or sheriff office. The OSBI doesn't offer fingerprinting services.
Fees for fingerprint-based searches are $19.00. When you submit a request for either fingerprint or name-based reports you can also pay $2.00 each for a sex offender database and violent offender database search. Payment methods, fax number, and mailing addresses are the same as fingerprint-based services. Make sure to include a SASE with mail requests.
